India will look to complete another bilateral series when they take on New Zealand in their second ODI clash at the Shahid Vernarayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday, January 21.
This run will be remembered for a double hundred from Shubman Gill, who has been outstanding since his 50-over debut. The visitors also bounced back in the game thanks to Michael Bracewell's hundred. While Gill smashed 208 off 149 balls to take India to 349/8 in 50 overs, the Black caps, who were hoping for a colossal defeat, managed Bracewell and Mitchell Santner seventh wicket partnership of 162 from 102 balls.
But their counter-attack was in vain as Mohammad Siraj was introduced for India. In the final, Shardul Thakur beat the yorker to seal the match against the home side.
Now as the match shifts to Raipur, India will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series while New Zealand will look to level the series and make the final ODI interesting.
India and New Zealand will meet for the first time at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. In fact, it will be the first time that the venue is hosting international matches, having hosted several IPL, Champions League and Road Safety World Series matches so far.
India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Pitch Report
The recent T20 games played at the venue saw average scores of 170, and Raipur's wickets will be similar to those in other Indian cities, which are batters' paradises. However, Raipur's wickets tend to get slower as the game goes on, so spinners would enjoy bowling here more than pacers, who could also use variations like slower balls and cutters to get something out of the track. This will tempt the captains to bat first, take advantage of the wicket, and then put pressure on the chasing side with slower bowlers.
India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI Weather Forecast
The temperature is expected to reach a high of 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon on Saturday, January 21, and to drop to a low of 19 degrees Celsius during the playing hours. There is no chance of rain throughout the entire day or at the time of the game. So, at the very least, there shouldn't be any weather-related delays in the game.
