At the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, team India defeated New Zealand by 12 runs thanks to a huge knocks from Shubman Gill and a four-wicket haul from Mohammed Siraj. After deciding to bat first, Team India totaled 349/8 in 50 overs thanks to Shubman Gill's 208 and first double century. Later, New Zealand got off to a rough start by losing quick wickets, but Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner, who struck up a huge partnership, helped the visitors get back into the game.
Mohammed Siraj, however, made two strikes, got rid of Santner and Henry Shipley in one over, and put some pressure on New Zealand. Later, Bracewell led the way and scored 140 runs, but Shardul Thakur eventually got rid of him in the final over, giving the hosts a 12-run victory. In addition to Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur each claimed two wickets. India now has a 1-0 series lead after this victory.
India has won the toss and chosen to bat against New Zealand in the opening ODI. This ODI series consists of three games, with the second and third games taking place in Raipur and Indore, respectively. Another three-match T20 match between these two teams will come after it.
In this series, India is missing Lokesh Rahul and Axar Patel. After the Sri Lanka series, the pair will have time off for family obligations.
